’Blow Me’ is a short advert parody of smoking adverts from the 60s, featuring a recreation of Margot Tenenbaum’s character as seen in Wes Anderson’s film ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’. By recreating iconic female film characters as well as taking the medium of the music video and parody ‘sketch-show’, it aims to break the bland ways of how women of colour have been shown to this day. Through humour, satire and symbolism ‘Blow Me’ attempts to draw attention to feminism and equality for all women as well as ideas around consumerism and commodification / fetishizeation of women in adverts.
